This Giving Tuesday, make a difference close to home.
Our world is only getting more complicated, and for those facing mental health challenges, cognitive issues, or other barriers, finding the right support can feel overwhelming.
From tax assistance to legal and disability advocacy, we work with our neighbours in the South Okanagan & Similkameen to help them access the critical resources and services they need for a brighter future.

But we can’t do it alone.
Every day, more people turn to us for support, and we need your help to keep making a difference. This Giving Tuesday, we’re asking for your support so we can ensure that everyone in our community gets the assistance they deserve.
Our Work Brings

We help people across the South Okanagan & Similkameen access complex support services so they get what they need to move their lives forward.
Our programs bring hope, connection, and millions of dollars in refunds and benefits into the community EVERY YEAR, allowing our neighbours to participate fully in the economy and society.
Sometimes, we just need a hand up.
Community Voices: Our Work in Action
“They know what’s going on, explained the process thoroughly and was told every step in the process for disability application.”
“Access Staff do not judge people, they accept you where you are at when seeking their services.”
“It was much better to figure out the divorce process with in-person guidance rather than trying to do it alone and online.”
Your Support in Action: The Gift of Independence

Jane
Jane was facing homelessness because her landlord required all tenants to pay rent by e-transfer. Due to her disability, she couldn’t make payments this way. We stepped in to ensure her rent was paid, preventing eviction. We then worked with the landlord to find a solution that accommodated her needs. By advocating for understanding and flexibility, we help ensure vulnerable individuals like Jane maintain stable housing and security.

Iryna
Iryna, a refugee from Ukraine approached us for help with her first income tax filing after noticing our sign advertising free services. Initially unsure, she returned with all her paperwork, hoping our service really was free. Overwhelmed and near tears, she was relieved when the process went smoothly. Grateful, she thanked us profusely. Volunteer-run services were new to her, and she hopes to give back
one day by volunteering herself.

Claude
Access met Claude four months ago. Living in his van, he was struggling. We connected him to the Summerland Food Bank & Resource Center and helped him reapply for GIS. On the BC Housing registry, Claude needed more help so we completed the VAT assessment to find housing. Claude now has a chance for stable housing and financial security, providing hope for a better future.
A Legacy of Service
The Access Centre has proudly served the area for over thirty years. Originally established as the Women’s Centre, we expanded our mission to become the Access Centre in 2013.
We’ve relied primarily on funding from government programs, community service groups, and grants to sustain our work. However, as the need for our services continues to rise, we’re striving to grow our community of supporters to ensure we can reach even more individuals in need.
When you support Access, you’re more than just a donor – you’re part of a community working together to create change.
Heartfelt Thanks
Our work is only possible thanks to the generosity of giving partners like Wildstone Construction Group. A big shout out to Jim Morrison from Wildstone for kicking off our Giving Tuesday campaign with a $5,000 donation–for the second year in a row!
Read Jim’s story here.
Together with ongoing support from people like you and our wider community, we’re able to extend our services and reach even more individuals in need.
Every contribution fuels our ability to provide essential resources and advocacy, making a lasting impact on lives across our region.
